Multi-edition Gema Soft/Gemtree
I was asked if there was an official release of the Train game, on floppy disk. There wasn't. But I thought, why not do it now? So I prepared a "collector's" first and last official release of the "MULTI-EDITION" software from the companies:
- Nemecek Software
- GOLEM
- Gema Soft
- Gemtree Software
The box contains (+ authors' signatures):
- 3.5" diskette with DOS
Manager 1.59
- 3.5" diskette with DOS Manager 2.20
- 3.5" floppy with 34 DOS programs and games: Train, Vsemi10
and others
- Gemtree Peter 2.50/2.51 installation CD
- DVD with DOS programs and their sources (DOS Manager, TexiGen,
utilities)
- DVD with www content with add-ons and sources for Gemtree Petr
2.50/2.51
- A 24-page booklet "Talking, or How It All Was"
- box (just a minimalist, home-made one :-) )
The boxes have a numbered serial number, starting with 001. Currently, the last serial number is 093, but it seems there won't be any more, since I've used up all my stock. I sent the boxes to interested people (for 200 CZK to cover the cost). If you are interested, write, it is possible that I will still have a box available. However, I would like to point out that this is a handmade amateur home production "on my knee", printing on an inkjet printer, the box is made of soft paper.
The contents of the boxes are not licensed software - I have already released all the included programs as freeware (including the sources). Alternatively, you can make the boxes yourself, I have prepared the necessary materials freely available (or someone from the OldComp forum can provide you with a copy).
- A DVD with DOS programs is
also available in reduced form on GitHub: https://github.com/Panda381/DOS-Progs
- Here in the file is a description of the contents of the DVD: https://github.com/Panda381/DOS-Progs/blob/main/README.TXT
- The DVD also contains over 9000 textures and graphics, mostly
generated in TexiGen. Some of the textures are on the TexiGen
website: ../../TexiGen/
- On the DVD with Peter's sources there is a copy of Peter's
website: ../../Petr/
The contents of the floppies and the book in PDF format can be found on GitHub in the folder: https://github.com/Panda381/DOS-Progs/tree/main/!DISKETY
Additional information:
This is a homemade product, so don’t expect a “professional look.” I used older supplies I had at home, printed on an inkjet printer (be careful of moisture), and there are significant inaccuracies and errors. The box is made of drawing paper and bends easily. The CD case may have scratches.
The floppy disks are older ones that I used previously. They have been tested to ensure there are no errors in the data, but errors may still occur - in that case, I recommend using the floppy disk images from the DVD, in the !DISKETY folder.
If the DVD becomes difficult to read toward the end of the disc, try letting it cool down for a while - the heat from the laser can cause the disc to warp temporarily. Alternatively, you can use the DVD image available at https://github.com/Panda381/DOS-Progs.
Programs from Petr may be flagged by antivirus software as potentially dangerous, or even trigger malware warnings. This is a long-standing issue with Petr. The EXE file contains a program interpreter to which the interpreted program code is attached. Antivirus programs consider this non-standard format suspicious and assign it a negative score in online statistics, even though it is a false alarm.
In the text “Talking”, I incorrectly state that “The Kralik Case” appeared in the magazine Bajt. It is a typo, but it could not be corrected retroactively.
